Last weekend, I went to Governors Island for the vintage French carnival, Fete Paradiso, which was a very nice time, but I have to say that my favorite part of the day was when my friends and I happened upon one of the art exhibits, right next to the carnival, in one of the houses with the art shows. It was the best surprise art exhibit ever! There is a room sectioned off and almost completely filled with balloons. The balloons were blue and white to give a feeling of water, that you are swimming in water. Let me tell you, I think this is the most fun I had in a while! We were instantly transformed back into children swimming wild without a care in the world! I didn’t get the name of the artist or what the installation was called. I am not positive if it’s even still there. My guess is that, looking at the Governors Island website, that is it part of the 4Heads Governors Island Art Fair. If so, you just have one more weekend to check it out!
I have decided that if I ever live in a house, or have a lot of money for a nice big apartment, I am dedicated a room to be filled with balloons to swim wild in whenever I am feeling down. Instant mood changer.
